My students are very sweet and generous. They are very helpful and want to learn but many of them are below grade level. A majority of my class falls under the ELL category and many students have parents that do not speak English. Due to the language barrier, many students have little help at home. I also have several students with multiple behavior issues that are going to counseling. As a whole, our school has many impoverished students and many students are not currently performing on grade level. Math and reading scores have been low compared to other schools in the state. However, I feel that more hands on activities would really benefit our struggling students and may also help improve behavior within the classroom as well.
