Is this really fresh dairy air? Please help my students make the connection that air quality affects their daily lives. I am requesting UV sensors so that students can be involved with a long-term project. These sensors will allow students to collect local UV levels as they gain a complete picture of what sort of gases and particulates are in our local air. Students will be able to determine what common air pollutants are, how they affect certain types of individuals, and they will be able to uncover trends of certain levels of gases and particulates. Students can use this knowledge to help inform others about safe and harmful air quality levels. This project will help my students learn science in an authentic way. My students will be able to see that science should involve active learning and not just readings from a textbook or memorization of facts.
