Every classroom needs a book library for the students to dive into knowledge, wonder and develop their own thoughts and perspectives on life. I have been teaching Science and Social Studies for the past nine years and this year I am diving into the world of English Language Arts! I want this year to be exciting, riveting and worth while for my students. I want to instill the love of reading to my students. Middle schooler's tend not to LOVE reading, and they think it is a chore. My goal is to change the reading program that my students have been used to in their academic career. It is my objective to give students a choice in their reading material and not have to read a book just because the whole class is reading a book. Studies have shown that if students get a choice in their reading material then they will want to read it because it interests them! Having a classroom library with many choices will give my students freedom in their reading adventure.
