Our yearbook studio/classroom has become a safe haven for those who at times have a tough time fitting in. In our classroom, they are able to be free to take photos and find their voice.
At this moment in time, we have no DSLR cameras. Students are limited to point and shoot cameras that don't allow for manual manipulation to shoot an image the way they envision it.
Taking photos is an outlet for students who are struggling emotionally. Behind the lens, they can feel a part of the school culture and actively be a part of the activities. This camera and lens will allow students to capture our school while still remaining socially distant.
The Nevada State Standards that my students will be able to work on with these supplies are: Performance Standard 3.1 : Demonstrate competence in using various types of cameras;
3.1.3 Describe camera controls, lenses, accessories, and their function; 3.1.4 Demonstrate the proper handling of a digital camera; Performance Standard 3.2: Demonstrate use of various lenses and their application; 3.2.1 Define focal length and its effect on image composition; Content Standard 4.0: Demonstrate proper exposure settings; 4.1.1 Describe and utilize the basic elements of exposure.
