My students are brilliant first graders that crave the opportunity to learn through technology. They have such a love for trying new things and not afraid of making mistakes. These children come from a low income area, so technology is very limited in their homes. As first graders, they are not given equal opportunities to use the computer lab or chrome carts, since they are not SBAC tested. My school slowly collecting more technology for the students, however, it will take us at least 3-4 years before my first graders see any of this technology. With the new Common Core standards, I look forward to providing my students with more opportunities to use technology within our own classroom and better prepare them for the 21st century.
