As a team we have no supplies on hand. Our first season we had one, cheap, rubber volleyball for practice. It is extremely difficult to use one ball with twelve plus girls who have never played the sport before. As players were able to purchase their own balls and knee pads we were able to have better practices. As of our first game we had never even practiced with a net. We were very fortunate last year that the local seventh and eighth grade program allowed us to borrow volleyballs and knee pads to practice with. However, there were numerous days in which we had no access to these supplies.
No student should be denied an opportunity to participate because her parents cannot afford to pay for balls and knee pads. By having these requested Tahikara Official indoor volleyballs, volleyball cart, and volleyball knee pads, my players will be able to learn the proper techniques to compete in the sport of volleyball. By having an adequate supply of balls I will be able to allow girls to work on specific skills at their own pace, rather than having to rush them along based on the simple fact that everyone must work on the same things because of the lack of equipment.
Supporting this project will continue to help the participating players for years by supplying us with reusable equipment.
