The book, Stamped Racism, Antiracism and You, will give students their own resource to reference for our virtual history class. The reason I chose this book is because it discusses many key standards from U.S. History while also addressing racism in the United States throughout our history. Students will see how racism began with the Puritans and the Slave trade and how it evolved over the course of our history. Then, they will learn how to discredit or stamp out racism within our community. By the end of my class, I want students to understand what has happened in our past that created the racism that still exists today. I have always wanted to teach students this history, but I wasn't taught this growing up in school. I don't know enough to do it on my own. This book will give us the opportunity to learn together about racism and make the history they learn in my class more meaningful. I can't imagine a better way to spend a history class.
