Imagine being in a classroom ready to learn, but being so overwhelmed by your own sensory system that you could not focus on the task at hand. This is the reality of the students in my special education room. They want to learn, but are so distracted by their own senses and sensory needs that they struggle to maintain focus long enough to absorb information. Even though we are a tiny district in a rural area with a 70% poverty rate, we make it our goal to meet the very unique needs of our diverse learners. My middle school special education students have a desire to learn, and put out their best efforts every day. i see it as my goal to facilitate their learning in every way possible, and to provide them with the tools to do so.

About my class
