Our classroom is full of life and enthusiasm! My students are eager to learn and help each other throughout the day. There are many things we learn about: from numbers, to letters, to manners, and so many things in between. It's an exciting process! Some students have had more experience with school, and they love to help those that are just beginning to learn. I encourage a cooperative environment for students to work together in small groups. Our school is located in a diverse and low-income community. For many of my students, English is not the primary language spoken at home. My job is to meet each student where they are, academically and socially, when they enter my classroom. Many of my students don't come from homes that encourage reading. My job is to bring reading to life so that my students develop a life-long love of reading - whether for information or enjoyment. Reading is not only key to education, but also to human development and understanding.
