As the first grade teacher of the ELD students in a Title I school, the resources available are limited. Even with the limited resources, the students work hard to achieve success and often test higher than their English speaking peers. The pride they show as they succeed is evident in the respect they have for their school and understand what it means to reach their educational goals. At the end of each year, the ELD students will take a language proficiency test as they attempt to test away from the program. Each year they are in the ELD program it becomes more difficult to be classified as proficient and be moved from the program.
