I teach at a Title One middle school in an urban neighborhood. 74% of our students qualify for free or reduced rate lunch and many come from very technology-poor homes. My students love technology and topics where they can discuss issues and express opinions. My school lacks the technology to meet my students’ needs and I am concerned that their lack of exposure will not prepare them for the technology fluency requirements in high school. My goal is to create a classroom environment where students are motivated by technology to improve their literacy and communication skills.
