Our School is a very unique school. 154 of the 575 Kindergarten-8th grade students have significant special needs. Our school has 17 selfcontained, cross-categorical special education classrooms and many students with complex special needs (autism, physical disabilities, multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities, vision impairments, and hearing impairments). Most of these students have severe communication needs as well. Our classrooms of 5th and 6th grade students have many challenges. They work day in and day out trying to learn new academic, communication and socialization skills. Although no new skill comes easily, these students project a joy of learning and a sense of pride at their accomplishments. Teachers can't just teach standards. They need to come up with creative and motivating activities to introduce skills and engage students in utilizing the skills. Technology engages students while d
