Humans were not designed to sit still all day. Movement in the classroom allows students to lower stress, give their brain a break to process, build episodic memories and much more! These standing desks and wobble chairs will give my students the opportunity to choose special seats that allow them to move while they work. The hopscotch carpet will be a big hit as it can be used for those cold, rainy indoor recesses to give them exercise, as a quick movement activity to transition from one activity to another, and as a review game using movement. Inattention is a big issue in schools these days. Students need help focusing and yet we make them sit for hours. They need more....they deserve more chances to move!
