Math is difficult for many students even under the best circumstances. My kids are already behind. Last spring, distance learning was difficult and we are looking at a much longer distance learning model. To ensure that my students are able to learn during this time, kids need a math manipulative kit. For example, if we are working on measuring the kit has a set of tangrams and a ruler that will be standard for all students so when then measure the side of a shape or the perimeter, all should end up with the same answer. For many kids work has to be concrete and math tends to be very abstract. By giving kids a standard tool kit, lessons will be easier to create and understand. Students will have the tools they need to better visualize and comprehend the math they will be learning. Students will also be able to see the teacher model with the same tools that they have in their tool kit.
