Our District is changing standards and our children need books in order to be successful. We are switching from Georgia Performance Standards to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. All of our previous materials were GPS related. Our new standards and frameworks utilize and incorporate several texts that our school does not have available. We have searched our district and there are only one to two copies in the libraries. I have purchased a teacher copy of each text, but I need help to ensure my students are successful. Our new standards and frameworks increase the rigor and learning expectations that students need to be successful on the Georgia Milestones Assessment. The standards are exciting and I am looking forward to utilizing these texts the upcoming school year. The new standards push students to be more vocal in the classroom about content and it praises collaborative learning. We get to look at each story and text as a new adventure.
