By giving students choice of seating it helps them have control over their environment. It gives them the sense of ownership. It turns into "our" classroom rather than "my" classroom. I want students to feel empowered and safe. Using flexible seating in the classroom that students feel comfortable in will encourage them to stay engaged, safe and productive. Flexible seating improves focus. Students who struggle staying focused are able to use this type of seating to stay focused and process information better. When students choose their seating it enhances their ability to self-reflect. They will get to think about and evaluate how they learn best
