My first grade students love math centers! We work in centers at least three times a week after whole group instruction. While the students are engaged in their math centers they are practicing math skills while having fun. The math items I have requested will continue to build upon their math foundations. My students will use the dice and balance scale for composing and decomposing numbers. The dominoes will be used for subutizing practice. We will use the chain links and cuisenaire rods to get a concrete visual of making tens. All of the items requested will be used to foster a greater understanding of number knowledge. By being able to actually manipulate numbers through hands on activities, my students will build a strong foundation in math my students succeed in their future!
