Our deaf and hard of hearing preschool classroom will provide a safe child-centered learning environment that will evoke curiosity, problem-solving, and language development. An American Sign Language carpet will promote visual language by teaching the alphabet, numbers up to 12, and primary colors. During our whole group time, the teacher will be able to use the soft and comfortable carpet to promote language development in an interactive setting. Time spent on the American Sign Language carpet will be part of the preschoolers' daily schedule. They will come into their colorful classroom excited and ready to learn as well as have a comfortable place to sit.
