I have a class of twenty-two enthusiastic first graders. About ninety percent of them are English Language Learners. Each one is very unique, but they are able to work together as a team. They come from diverse backgrounds. Some live with both parents, and most of them live with one parent. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area where crime is a common occurrence.
