My school is a small school in a large district that is grossly underfunded. We have money for most programs, but not for what is necessary in the classrooms. We haven't had an updated curriculum for the English courses in 12 years. Our students need supplemental materials to keep them interested in learning. My students, the majority of which are Mexican American and come from a poor community, crave knowledge. They want to learn, and they understand that education is their way out of this lifestyle. These books will help them find joy in literature again.
