Hello, I am a school leader at M.T.P. Charter School's Performing Arts and Culinary Academy in Newark. I am entering my second year with the network and want to help our school and students excel. Last year, due to the pandemic, our school was not able to develop our scholars as we would of liked in the Arts. Despite the challenges, we were still able to put on a virtually filmed rendition of Disney's Frozen. But our goal is to go above and beyond just one performance per year. With schools in NJ reopening in September, we want to give our scholars and instructors a running start in the Arts this year by providing adequate equipment and an inspiring learning environment. I have been a major proponent of the Arts, especially at my previous school where I was able to help build up the Arts program significantly. Being new to this network, I have realized that there are gaps in creating an ideal Arts program here, but we do have amazing Art instructors and scholars with amazing potential who simply need support to overcome those gaps. These mirrors are one step towards helping our talented scholars develop in Dance as they can learn more from self reflection as well as visual group cues. We have a tremendous Dance teacher who motivates our scholars and this project can push scholar learning even more with simply adding mirrors to our Dance studio!
