I have the best job in the world! I get to help first grade students go from learning letter sounds to reading chapter books by the end of the year. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child's face light up when they were able to sound out a word or finish a book on their own. This is my third year teaching first grade in a very diverse, Title 1 school. Nevada school's have recently experienced severe budget cuts. Field trips have been cut, extra supplies are in high demand, and paper is a scarcity. Just because our economy is suffering, does not mean our children should too.
