First graders are learning about their personal space in group lessons. Currently, my students are sitting on a hard floor. We've chosen a nature colored rug to enhance our focus and mindset. This thick rug will allow my students to be more comfortable while we are learning as a whole group on the floor. In addition, this rug is separated into five colors that can be used for differentiated learning groups. My students will also use this area for independent and partner reading time. They have been learning about the importance of community and how we take care of our belongings. But even more importantly, I believe this donation will help teach my children about the importance of generosity towards others and taking care of our community.
