My class is made up of 25 seven and eight-year-old students who are excited and active learners. They come to school with smiling faces and eager minds ready to learn new things. I teach in the largest elementary school in Springfield, Missouri where 600 students attend. We are also a Title I school but don't receive any Title I funding. Therefore, all interventions have to be completed by the classroom teacher. I meet with small groups during our math and literacy blocks in order to provide more direct instruction. Every day, my students work hard in these small groups. However, their bodies need to move so oxygen can get to their brains to keep them awake, focused, and able to learn. Alternative seating would make a huge difference in my students' ability to focus and achieve their goals.
