We are an inner-city, Title I school, in which the majority of our students (approximately 90%) are on free or reduced lunch. Although we have a low School Performance Score, we made double digit gains last year, and we have continued to have similar success this year. By the time my players reach 9th grade, most of them have had little to no exposure to the game of softball. My assistant coach and I spend a great amount of time teaching them the basics of the game, how to properly use equipment, and exposing them to the sport of softball.
