Due to the effects of COVID-19, many students have not had the chance to experience a normal school year. This has created a gap in their reading abilities and it has made it difficult to help students learn to love reading. I am so excited to provide my students the opportunity to use audio books to help them feel successful in their reading journey and to find book genres they will love. Having portable CD players in the classroom will allow my students to listen to books while they follow along with the physical copy. Many of my students do not have an adult that is able to sit down and read with them at home, so this will help fill that gap. We do not have windows that open in our classroom, so by adding an air purifier my students will benefit from having clean air while they listen to their audio books.
