These materials will allow my students to have a wider selection of reading materials for independent reading. Students will be more likely to find a book that is interesting and engaging for them, in hopes that they will continue their independent reading and improve their skills! Research has shown that students who read more: -have larger vocabularies -are better writers -perform better on standardized tests. All of these benefits will help my students be more successful in school and in the 'real world." Students will have the opportunity to read fiction as well as non-fiction materials to broaden their perspectives. Students will be completing a reading log/journal as they read and will then present their material to the class. The wireless pointer will allow students the freedom to use digital presentation software.
