I am a Special Education teacher from North Carolina that works with students who require more intensive instruction in math, reading, and writing. The grade levels vary from class to class, but I work with students from 2nd through 5th grade. The students are pulled from their regular classrooms and receive anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes of extra help. When the students come to me, the groups are small and we work on basic skills that they struggle with or don't understand. For example, basic skills in math include anything from the concept of borrowing in subtraction to no comprehension of the difference between multiplying and dividing.
