This project helps bring the experience of theatre and drama into the 21st century classroom through film technology. While the discipline and art of live theatre are taught in my class, film recording with these 5 cameras will give the students a greater opportunity to review and analyze their work. It also allows them to create works that other students can view and learn from. It also allows them the opportunity to physically manipulate components of a dramatic scene or story through editing. They are able to empower themselves and experiment without becoming immediately vulnerable to a full, live audience. They will have a product of their work which helps establish pride, especially for those who aren't natural performers. Through this project, students will not only have the opportunity to look at drama from a different perspective, but they will also have the opportunity to develop important, viable, technical skills.
This project brings important resources to the classroom, allowing students to work in class without worrying about having adequate resources at home. Students without access to cameras at home will no longer have to come to early tutorials just to borrow my personal camera. They can feel confident knowing everything they need will be provided.
