My students are eager to learn and succeed. Most come from homes which are suffering many difficulties both financially and emotionally. Our school is a low-income school whose free lunch rate is at 98%. Resources are limited in provided them with the services they need. Having a classroom zoo has provided them with the ability to become kind, caring students. Being responsible for our classroom pets allows them the opportunity to observe how affectionate animals can be and how they depend solely on their caregiver for survival.
