I teach a groups of 26 fantastic kindergartners full of energy and questions. Being a Title I school, many of my students come from homes of poverty and find comfort and routine within the classroom walls. My students impress me every day with their kindness to one another and their desire to learn. As a reward I get the chance to see students go from not being able to recognize or write their own name, to reading and writing stories in just one year! It was a sad day when I saw the looks on my students' faces when they saw their old rug had been removed from the room. It may have been old, stained and dirty, but it was a place they loved. As a reward to them I would like to fill the now empty space with a new, bright, and clean rug.
