I am fortunate to have a computer lab in my school. However, it so amazing to see a child's face when they are invited to take their learning to a deeper level on the spot using a Chromebook. It is inspiring to see a child's face light up and their eyes grow wide with excitement when they discover they are owners of their leaning. Having a Chromebook affords them that opportunity. The unfortunate side of having to share a Chromebook, or only having a limited time using one within a student's day is, it is difficult to manage as a teacher and frustrating as a student. Too often I see lost spontaneous learning occurring, simply because there is not enough technology in my room. I know as an educator, the ideal learning environment would be, one Chromebook for every child. By funding this project, you are helping to create future entrepreneurs and philanthropists while continuing the love of learning. My students will use the two Chromebooks across ALL subject areas. Here are a few examples of how I will use my Chromebooks. The students will use the Chromebooks for research and make slide presentations. Students will verify information while engaging in STEM projects. They will also use the books for math as well. Students will read about people they have vaguely heard about. They will view these people as vital to our society. They will learn about world problems and why it is important to work together to help solve them. The Chromebooks will be store and locked in a cabinet where they can be charged and ready for the next day of critical learning.
