This coffee shop will give our students the opportunity to practice their social skills, vocational skills and motor skills while interacting with staff around our school. Donating to this project will help our students engage in meaningful work while bridging to the high school community. The students will advertise the coffee shop by making posters, making presentations to staff and working on their technology skills. They will work as a team, collaborating to promote the cafe and make a business plan. They will interact socially when making the coffee. The students will practice their math skills by collecting money and making change. They will work collaboratively to make the sales and determine each students' role. They will stamp the cups. They will learn the skills that are needed to work in a cafe. The students will use their motor coordination, motor planning and fine motor dexterity. By putting the pods in correctly, placing the up in the correct spot, walking with the coffee, pushing a cart of coffee, stamping the cups and stamping punch cards, the students are all improving their motor skills.
