Having Chromebooks readily available will foster an increased sense of independence for my students who struggle with writing. Using the voice to text feature my students are able to develop increased independence when completing written work that is assigned by their classroom teachers. This feature allows them to speak aloud while the device types what they are saying. Last year my students significantly increased their production of written work. They were so proud of the work they were able to produce using the voice to text feature. The struggle that we faced was not having enough Chromebooks for all students. I would love to see more of my students have regular access to technology that will make the process of writing more enjoyable for them. This will increase their ability to effectively access the curriculum and meet the expectations set forth by their classroom teachers. I believe it will also lead to increased self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment that many of my students have not experienced in their educational journey.
