My preschool students with Autism and speech and language impairments, have deficits with their language development and social skills. These are two areas of development that provide challenges for our students when seeking friendships and achieving success & independence in their daily lives. Help me give our youngest population of students, the gift of language and friendship by providing an inviting and interactive learning space that will optimize language development and socialization between peers. A colorful and engaging classroom rug will welcome my students as they step into a classroom for the first time, and will last throughout the years. The soft colors and illustrations will provide a calming and inviting learning area to encourage socialization and play during circle activities, story-time and group games. Full-size classroom books with story-time activities will keep the students engaged with visuals and provide a language experience that will develop listening, speaking, and turn-taking skills. Child size water and sensory tables will support student's sensory and emotional regulation needs, as they explore and seek out the different textures of materials (sand, water, clay), and participate in interactive lessons & play with friends.Please help me create a classroom space that is welcoming and supports the language & social development for all of my students in the years to come.
