Some stats about our school are 84% of our students receive free and/or reduced lunch. We have 80% African American; 14% White; 6% Hispanic. I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math students. They are at a variety of learning levels. One thing they all seem to enjoy is art/drawing. They struggle with note-taking and working problems out on paper. But when I tell them they can write on the white board, they all jump at once. They enjoy choosing what color marker they will use and also enjoy decorating their finished answer.
