I love what I do! I get to introduce science in an innovative and interesting format to many students who have not had the opportunity to really DO science. My school is located in an upper-middle class and many assume that all my students have everything they need, but my students come from a variety of backgrounds and opportunities. My students have homes with financial difficulties, a variety of learning disabilities, and many are just starting to learn the English language. This year I will educate 100 plus students. 16% will receive special education services, 15% are identified as limited English proficiency, and 16% are considered economically disadvantaged. This all all true, but my favorite part about my daily experience in the classroom is how much my students want to learn about science. How hard they try and how excited they get about the opportunity to use technology in the classroom. Technology often bridges the gap between lack of experience and understanding.
