STEM is the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics into one approach. This project will help introduce my kindergarteners into S.T.E.M learning. These requested materials will engage in my student's curiosity and inquisitiveness, which will lead them into thinking about real word issues, exploring the design process and learning the field of engineering. I plan to utilize the materials as soon as possible and coordinate it with our literacy learning on fairy tales. For example, as we read the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, I would like for my students to explore building a bridge. I would use the book to create a problem: how can the goats get to the other side quickly without getting attacked by the troll? With the materials, we would be able to explore real-life bridges and use hands-on manipulatives to build and engineer! All of the materials will help my students develop skills in creative design, physical science, engineering and fine motor control.
