I have 24-26 (depends on the time of day) fourth-grade students in a metropolitan area outside of Washington D.C. Many are English Language Learners and all are thirsty to learn. My kids love using the iPads we just received, but find it hard to watch educational videos or use certain programs since they require sound and it is difficult to have so many iPads playing at the same time. My school is an expeditionary learning school with lots of hands-on projects so it is easy to see how this could be a problem. The school does not have enough funds to purchase headphones for my whole class and it would be incredible to be able to differentiate instruction based on ability and allow students to work on projects, have stories read to them, watch educational videos, and so much more.
