I teach Early Childhood Education at a high school in N. Georgia. I currently have 90 students in 3 classes. Our community is low income, and I have found that by giving my students the chance to work with young kids in the early childhood setting, they are realizing this is something they can see themselves doing in the future. I have also teamed up with a local technical school that has an awesome Early Childhood Program - if my high school students take all 3 of my classes and pass with an 85 or higher, have excellent internship reviews and pass an articulation exam with the local technical school, they will receive 9 college credit hours towards an Associates in Early Childhood Education. Kids who never saw themselves going to college are realizing they can do something they love and get ahead at the same time!
