My class is made up of first and second grade students, nine of the most loving students, five girls and four boys. They are very energetic and for the most part easily engaged. The majority can communicate verbally on some level but I do have one student that is non-verbal. We are in a high poverty district with very limited resources. The students are eager to learn and are able to make slow but steady progress. Some are better able to grasp the curriculum at a faster pace than others. They love to read, listen, or look at books, and enjoy listening to music. Their activities can include matching items to simple board games. Art projects and drawing are also favorite things to do. Their parents/caregivers are hard working, very loving and supportive. They do the best with what they have got. Being in a high poverty district I do the best I can with what limited materials and resources I have.
