I have 17 girls and 1 boy, I teach students whom live below the poverty line. Racial demographics in my classroom: 90% African American, 10% Hispanic. My students are very sociable, eager to learn and possess curiosity for learning. The societal issues my students face outside of the classroom inevitably impact their learning in the classroom. With this being said, I try my best to create a positive and safe environment for my students to come to. My school is currently in receivership- this has led to many parents holding negative views on what their child can achieve this year. I would describe my school as a loving community which embraces individual student talents and experiences they can offer to their peers. K-6 building, with a Boys Academy on the third floor (this program is for grades 3-6). The Boys Academy prepares young men not only academically, but socially as well. Students are held at a higher standard and helped stay on the right path.
