I love my students! They come from every part of the globe and in all different shapes and sizes. Our school is transient, so some of them don't stay very long. Many are in subsidized housing and they can't afford food, let alone books and supplies. When classes first started, we didn't even have access to the school's library. That's when I gathered all of my own personal books and set them up as a lending library in my classroom. The kids loved it! They were able to explore a world very different from their own. One other way we teach our kids to read is with the Lexia Reading Program. This is a wonderful program that works well for a diverse classroom. The problem is that we need all of the kids to have headphones to keep the noise to a manageable volume.
