My students are exciting. They come from many different neighborhoods, backgrounds, home lives and cultures. We are incredibly diverse, and through that, we learn more about each other and what we can offer the world through our talents. They enter my classroom excited to learn a song, a dance, or most importantly to them, play instruments. They do their best to respect the music we learn and listen to. My students are eager to share their thoughts and feelings relating to what we sing or listen to, and share with me music I don't listen to and how it affects them. When they enter my classroom, every student in the school knows it is a place where they don't have to be good at math, or reading, or science, or make all A's. It's a place where they can learn about not only music, but themselves as well. They can be goofy while we're making up lyrics to a song, they can show their personalities through the dance moves they come up with.
