The iPad will be used both as a tool in speech/language therapy and as a reward. An iPad would give my kids instant access to motivating, content-rich resources (and reduce paper waste, too). For kids working on speech sounds, we would use apps that are pre-loaded with thousands of practice words and motivating games/visuals. For children with autism, we might watch a video scene and discuss what each character was thinking or feeling - then follow it up with a motivating video on the student's favorite topic (ocean life, for example). My children who stutter might watch a video example of a child using a stuttering technique, then video tape themselves using the same techniques.
