Our school is a Title I school, which serves a predominantly immigrant community. Close to 30% of our students are English Language Learners, and need a multimodal approach to learning. Music taps into their rich cultural assets, providing a bridge between their many ways of knowing, and the rigors of school curriculum. I currently teach 20 classes of approximately 600 students, in grades 1, 2, 3, and 4.
