Cutting edge research proves that a gamified classroom means an increase in student engagement. By simply adding a brain break opportunity or time-out for an education-based challenge, I will boost my kids' active participation in class and create connections as they learn. Gamifying in-person and e-learning captures the attention of the students and provides a challenging and fun experience in a safe environment. It has been shown to increase motivation, enhance learning, provides inspiration, and makes learning interactive. After the last 2 challenging years, learning will be fun and visible in my classroom. My goal is to involve all students and give them less traditional ways to participate and involve themselves with learning and meeting our standards. By using the supplies I am requesting, each student will be able to use what knowledge they've accrued in a setting that allows mistakes in a non-threatening atmosphere, because they're playing games. They can play review games collaboratively with review questions using giant Jenga, or show what they know individually but within the large group by holding up personal whiteboards showing what they know. We will also embed a number of SEL elements and projects with Playdoh and Wikki Stix. By funding my project, we will make my students' classroom experiences come alive this year.
