Books in Spanish readily available: Students check out stories and poems written by Isabel Allende, Gary Soto, Gabriel García Márquez and more. Students read children's stories to their younger siblings and cousins at home. I have a young new mother still in high school that checks out books to read to her baby. Students set aside time in my classroom to read for themselves, or read to their parents or siblings at home. I want to expose my students to fascinating stories and poems to stimulate their imaginations and give them hope that they too can write one day! Being multicultural is a beautiful thing!
