I have seventeen kindergarten students, ages five and six. Our school houses grades kindergarten through 3rd grade. The town we live in is a small town, and has a population of around 5,000. Most of the children have one or both parents who work in a factory. My classroom is an all day kindergarten where all subjects are taught. The children are with me all day, except for lunch, recess and an activity period. Most children in my class have attended a preschool, but still come to kindergarten unprepared for most things we do.
