My students are a bright group who are losing their enthusiasm for learning. They all have unique backgrounds, learning styles, needs, and, most importantly, interests. Our curriculum has become more and more narrow through the years, with little opportunity for individualizing instruction to encourage each child to seek out topics of interest. They are becoming more complacent learners and don't have as many opportunities to think outside the box and follow their passions. I want to work to change that. I want them to take ownership of their learning process and find what they are passionate about. I want my students to view learning as a lifelong pursuit, not just something that happens at school, and have an opportunity to explore the topics they are curious about.
